Establishing the Bylaws in the Constitution

IN THE STUDENT SENATE OF SUNY COLLEGE AT NEW PALTZ


Mr. Zacherman introduced the following Constitutional Amendment:


Whereas, currently the Student Association Constitution does not establish the Student Association Bylaws, now:



The following amendment to the Constitution is put forth for consideration in a referendum:


A Constitutional Amendment




That, There shall be an amendment by referendum to the Student Association Constitution, inserting the following:

  • "Article XVIII Bylaws
    • A. The Student Senate shall have the ability to set additional policies and procedures governing the operation of **the Student Association, to be known as the Bylaws.
    • B. The right to alter, amend, modify, or revoke any portion of the Bylaws shall be at the sole discretion of the Student Senate.
    • C. Any proposal effecting the Bylaws of the Student Association shall require a 2/3rds majority in the affirmative to pass.
    • D. No portion of the Bylaws may conflict with the Student Association Constitution or local, state or federal laws and/or regulations"
