All-College Republicans
Although organizations of Republicans on campus have not been continuous, student activism on the part of the Republican party dates back to at least 1956, when New Paltz was home to a club called "All-College Republicans."
In October of 1956, the All-College Republicans planned a "Community Get-Together for Ike," a parade and rally which involved community and college Republicans. (1)
New Paltz College Republicans
The current chapter was co-founded by Michael J. Peters Jr., Ryan Hoy, and Brian Gold. The Club began holding regular meetings in January 2005 and has become part of the political environment on the SUNY New Paltz campus, and has quickly become involved in Village, Town, and County Politics as well.
In the mid-fall of 2005 Brian Gold resigned as chairman of the New Paltz College Republicans to focus on his new role as an executive board member of the New York College Republican State Committee. Original members and co-founders of the club, Ulster County Young Republicans chairman Ryan Hoy and the Student Association's Executive Secretary Michael J. Peters Jr., stepped up to replace Gold. The Club's previous constitution was updated to facilitate better organization and administration.

- 2/25/06 Counter Protest - The CRs drove over to Poughkeepsie to counter the Dutchess Greens and other groups who were protesting outside of the Army Recruiting Station on Rt. 9.
