One of the greatest resources for those that love the outdoors in New Paltz is the world class rock climbing that is only minutes away along the Shawangunk Ridge. The ease of access, and quality and variability of climbs has made this area famous throughout the country and the world as a rock climbing mecca. The Main areas are split up over four crags: Peterskill, Near Traps, Traps, and Millbrook.
