WikiPaltz is a relatively new Wiki - it was first installed in mid-June 2005 and was put into regular use during the Fall 2005 semester.

It has since become extremely active, with about a dozen editors making between 50 and 100 edits per day, with very active days seeing as many as 200 edits.

At its core, WikiPaltz is a database of 1,816 articles pertaining to the New Paltz area. Anybody can edit WikiPaltz at the click of a button - its use is not merely restricted to students. Faculty, Staff, Alumni, Residents, and anyone else with information to share about New Paltz can edit this Wiki.

So far, it has information primary about these topics:

  • The state-funded and appointed Administration of SUNY New Paltz
  • The student-funded and elected Administration of SUNY New Paltz
  • The SUNY New Paltz campus
  • The recently emergent students' rights movement
  • Campus personalities, including Student Government leaders
  • The history of student politics from about 1957-1963, taken mostly from issues of The Oracle from that era.
